A popular and award-winning piano teacher, Dr. Jean Park has been teaching piano since 2004 with students ranging from ages 3- adult. Jean has previously taught and maintained successful piano studios with waitlists both in Seattle and New York City.  Jean has moved to San Antonio and is currently on the piano faculties of San Antonio College and University of Incarnate Word. Jean also previously taught college level private piano lessons as a teaching assistant at Stony Brook University from 2015-2016.

Through the years,  Jean's students have been recognized for their excellence. In 2009, Jean's student won second place at the Eastside Performing Arts Festival (piano competition in Seattle) in her first time entering. In 2013, Jean helped her student prepare for and successfully audition into the Manhattan School of Music precollege program. In 2014, 2015, and 2016, Jean's student was selected for the encore recital for the incentive program offered by the Piano Teachers Congress of New York. In 2015, Jean's student received second place in the NYSMTA competition and a performance at St. Stephan's Cathedral in Manhattan. In 2016, Jean's student received honorable mention in the NYSMTA competition. Many of her other students have also received praise in adjudications and performances.

Active in her field as a piano teacher, Jean is a member of the Music Teachers National Association (and San Antonio Music Teachers Association and Texas MTA). She was previously a member and board member of the Piano Teachers Congress of New York when she lived in New York. In 2008, she received the Music Teacher's National Association's STAR Award, an award for excellence in academic achievement, successful teaching experience and demonstrated leadership abilities. Jean also previously chaired the Piano Teacher's Congress Honors Program,  a competition with a Carnegie Weill Recital Hall performance and cash prizes in 2014 and 2015. Furthermore Jean has served as an adjudicator for Piano Congress of New York, SAMTA, TFMC, and TMTA.

A pianist with demonstrated talent, Jean Park has competed in the Schubert Club's Scholarship Competition twice, winning second place in the college division in 2009, and returning in 2013 to win first place in the graduate division. She has also taken second place in the Bauru-Atlanta piano competition in 2009, and in 2008, Jean was awarded the grand prize for the Collaborative Artists East West Scholarship for her excellence in piano. She has performed internationally at many music festivals as a scholarship participant and also throughout New York City and Seattle where she was previously based.  

 

Jean Park received her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in piano performance at Stony Brook University, studying with Gilbert Kalish.  Prior to that, Jean received her Master's of Music degree in piano performance from Manhattan School of Music studying with Daniel Epstein and Andre Michel Schub. Jean also completed double bachelor degrees from the University of Washington both in piano (2008) studying with Regina Yeh, and also in Business (2008) with a double focus on International Business and Human Resources. Jean's other principal teachers include Eteri Andjaparidze, Choong Mo Kang, Bela Siki, and Mary Toy.
